BOV National Amateur League: Marsaskala make it six wins in a row

Attard and Marsaskala registered their sixth win in their respective groups in the BOV National Amateur League on Sunday.

In Group A, a goal by Nigel Spiteri six minutes in the second half handed Attard a narrow win over Ghaxaq at the Luxol Stadium while a goal by Andre Farrugia on the 10th minute earned Siggiewi the three points in the clash with Kalkara United at the Centenary Stadium.

At the Sirens Stadium, Xghajra Tornados and Msida St. Joseph shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Segun Abdullahi Busari put Msida ahead on the 12th minute and although Shawn Vella equalised on the 31st, Matthias Vella was quick to restore the lead for Msida on the 35th. However, Andre Mallia levelled matters five minutes from time.

Gharghur lead the way with 17 points, followed by Kalkara on 13, Birzebbuga 12, Attard 10, Msida 8, Siggiewi 7, Xghajra and Dingli 6, Ta’ Xbiex 5 and Ghaxaq 1. Attard had nine points deducted.

In Group B, Marsaskala maintained their perfect record with a 4-0 win over Sta. Venera Lightnings at the Luxol Stadium. Fabrizio Zammit put the Southseasiders ahead on the 32nd minute and Dylan Zarb doubled the score five minutes later. In added time, arsaskala sealed the issue with two goals by Adrian Bonavia and Christian Desira.

At the Sirens Stadium, Zabbar St. Patrick were held in a 1-1 draw by Qormi. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza put Zabbar ahead on the 28th but an own goal ten minutes in the second half restored equilibrium.

Marsaskala lead the way with 18 points, followed by Zurrieq on 16 points, Mtarfa 12, Zabbar 10, Mdina 9, Mellieha and Qormi 6, Sta. Venera 3 and Kirkop 1.
