Santa Lucia, Balzan share spoils in six-goal thriller

Santa Lucia joined Gudja United and Mosta on the ten-point mark after holding Balzan in a 3-3 draw at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

The three teams are now therefore joint-second from bottom, six points ahead of bottom-placed Sliema Wanderers. Balzan, on the other hand, join Gzira United in the sixth place on 16 points, one behind Floriana.

Santa Lucia took the lead on the 8th minute when off a cross from the right, Vito Plut anticipated goalkeeper Jake Galea, heading home.

Balzan equalised on the 24th minute when a freekick from the left by MIlan Djuric hit the foot of the upright and off the rebound, Bojan Kaljevic placed the ball at the back of the net.

Ten minutes later, Balzan made it 2-1 when off an assist from the left by Milan Djuric, Milos Mijic slammed the ball home past goalkeeper Julani Archibald.

Santa Lucia levelled matters on the 68th minute when Francisco Eliomar Rodrigues Farias received a pass from the right and slotted the ball past Jake Galea from close range.

Balzan regained the lead on the 73rd minute when Bojan Kaljevic served Uros Ljubomirac on the right and the latter hit low past the Santa Lucia custodian.

However two minutes from time, Francisco Eliomar Rodrigues Farias restored equilibrium heading the ball home from close range following a cross from the left.
