Futsal: Luxol take sole leadership

Luxol St. Andrews are the only team with maximum points in the Enemed Futsal League table after defeating Ta’ Xbiex 8-4 in a direct clash.

After establishing a comfortable lead before half-time, the Ta’ Xbiex outfit reacted fiercely in the second half although they only managed to score three more goals. Carl Azzopardi was five times on the mark for Luxol while Emil Raducu, Celino Alves and Melvin Borg also hit the target. Ta’ Xbiex had Jason Gauci, Glenn Bonello, George Frendo and Stefi Cale scoring their four goals.

Valletta climbed second in the table after trouncing St. George’s 8-1. The Citizens were determined to take home the three points. Andre Ciancio and Michael Borg scored a brace with Zvezdan Vukovic, Dylan Pace, Luke Gatt and Adem Zouari also putting their names on the score sheet. Charvon Gatt scored St George’s only goal.

Mellieħa Futsal returned to winning ways as they handed the University of Malta their first defeat. The Northerners won 4-3 in a well-contested encounter. Ciprian Socaciu, Ervin Rigo, Sean Vella Seisun and Andrew Abela scored their most important gows while Mohammed Elamari’s double and Essa Benatiya hit back for the Students.

Siġġiewi confirmed their good form of late as they saw off Żurrieq 7-1. Wallace Oliveira helped himself with a hat-trick while Timothy Muscat and Jean Lopez twice found the back of the net for Siġġiewi.

Qormi Futsal obtained their first win of the season after winning 7-3 against Marsaskala in the basement battle. The Yellow/Blacks had Christian George Mallia and Vuk Rankovic scoring a hat-trick each with Ayrton Duncan scoring the other goal. Marsaskala tried hard to get into the game but they only managed to score three times through Ismael Tabone, Matthew Grima and Denim Pisani.
