Hibernians move eight points clear

Leaders Hibernians came back from a goal down to beat Gzira United 3-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday to move eight points clear.

The Paolites, in fact, lead the way with 28 points, followed by Birkirkara, Floriana and Valletta but the Citizens have a game in hand. Gzira, on the other hand, continue to share the sixth place with Balzan.

The Maroons took the lead on the 4th minute when off a Yuri Messias corner from the left, Maxuell Maia da Silva headed home past goalkeeper Ibrahim Kone.

Hibernians equalised on the 32nd minute when off a cross by Thaylor from the right, Dunstan Vella served Jurgen Degabriele who hit home from close range.

Thirteen minutes in the second half, Hibernians forged ahead when Dunstan Vella served Jake Grech on the left and the latter’s shot beat the Gzira goalkeeper with Jurgen Degabriele tapping the ball home from close range.

On the 74th minute, Hibernians made it 3-1 when Jake Grech served Jurgen Degabriele on the left and the latter returned the compliment with Grech hitting home from close range.
