Hibernians held by Sirens in 1-1 draw

Hibernians dropped two important points in the race for the title as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Sirens at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Tuesday.

The Paolites remain unbeaten but now lead Floriana by six points and Hamrun Spartans by eight points but the Spartans have a game in hand. Sirens, on the other hand, join Balzan on the 19-point mark in seventh place but the latter have two games in hand.

New recruit Joseph Zerafa made his debut for Hibernians late in the game when he was included as a substitute.

Hibernians took the lead on the 15th minute when off a cross by Gabriel Izquier Artiles from the left, the ball was deflected by Carlo Zammit Lonardelli and Jurgen Degabriele hit low past goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

However on the 72nd minute, Sirens equalised when Kemar Reid released substitute Kemmu Degran Jackson on the right and the latter returned the complement with a cross from which the former hit home from close range.
