BOV Challenge League: Senglea rescue a point in a 3-3 draw with Tarxien

Senglea Athletic came back from two goals down to rescue a point in a 3-3 draw with Tarxien Rainbows at the Centenary Stadium in one of the matches from Group B of the BOV Challenge League on Thursday.

Matheus de Lucena Guariento put Senglea ahead on the 19th but goals by Matthew Tabone on the 338th, Ricardo Silva Faria on the 54th and Daneel Abela three minutes later gave Tarxien a 3-1 lead. However Kenneth Abela equalised on the 82nd and four minutes in added time, Matheus De Lucena Guariento levelled matters.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Qrendi turned defeat into victory as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-1.

Lucky Nwaogu Chibuzor handed Luqa an early lead after just three minutes but just before the end of the first half, Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe converted a penalty to level matters. Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel notched the winner ten minutes from time.

Pieta’, Tarxien and Zebbug lead the way with 20 points, followed by Marsa on 17, Fgura and Qrendi 16, Swieqi 15, St. Andrews 12, Senglea 11, Mgarr 8 and Luqa 7.

In Group A, goals by Noel Omondi on the 45th and Nigel Rizzo on the 79th handed Melita a 2-0 win over Marsaxlokk at the Centenary Stadium.

Pembroke lead the way with 27 points, followed by Naxxar on 25, Zejtun on 20, Lija and Melita 18, Marsaxlokk 16, Mqabba 12, San Gwann 10, Rabat and Vittoriosa 9 and St. George’s 4.
