Second win on the trot for Gudja as they defeat ten-man Sliema

After beating Santa Lucia on Wednesday, Gudja United claimed another three precious points from another direct clash, defeating Sliema Wanderers 1-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

A win which puts Gudja on the 17-point mark, five points ahead of Mosta and six ahead of Santa Lucia although the latter have a game in hand. The Wanderers, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table with four points.

Making their return for Sliema were Oscar Linton and Ruslan Kisil who played for them last season apart from Jean Carlos Cloth Goncalves who was included as a substitute.

Gudja scored the all-important goal on 23 minutes courtesy of Tensior Gusman who slotted the ball home from close range when served on the right by Mensah.

To make matters worse for Sliema, defender Raffaele Schiavi was sent off two minutes from the end of the first half for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity – bringing down an opponent who was heading towards goal.
