Women’s League: Mgarr, Birkirkara continue to share top spot

New signing Patricia Lamanna notched a hat-trick as Birkirkara defeated Kirkop United in a match from the Women’s League at the Mgarr Ground on Wednesday.

Lamanna scored twice on the 3rd and 10th to put the Stripes two goals ahead. On the hour, Lamanna scored the third goal and one minute later, Veronique Mifsud made it 4-0. Mariah Cardona added another on the 69th and although Rodianne Zerafa pulled one back for Kirkop on the 72nd, Ann-Marie Said scored a sixth goal for Birkirkara seven minutes from time.

In another match on Tuesday, Swieqi United found no difficulty in beating Mtarfa 7-0 at the Dingli Ground.

Demi Magrin opened the scoring on the 8th minute and Amy Busuttil doubled the score on the 38th before Kelly Agius Pace scored twice on the 42nd and 44th. Chloe Ann Ellul extended the lead on 55 minutes with Jade Schembri and Shona Zammit scored another two goals on the 80th and 90th respectively.

In the Women’s Under-20 League, Birkirakra maintained a three-point lead over Raiders Lija as they defeated Mgarr United 7-1 while Raiders beat Kirkop United 5-0. In another match, Swieqi United beat San Gwann 3-0.

In the Women’s Under-16 League, Swieqi United dropped their first points as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Mtarfa Zebbug while Birkirkara defeated Kirkop United 7-0 to join them on top. In another match, San Gwann defeated Mgarr United 3-1.
