The top-of-the-table clash between leaders Marsaskala and Zurrieq in Group B of the BOV National Amateur League at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday ended in a goalless draw.
In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Qormi returned to winning ways as they defeated Mdina Knights 2-0, goals by Gilmour Sammut on the 22nd and Miguel Busuttil on the 73rd.
Marsaskala and Zurrieq lead the way with 23 points, followed by Mtarfa on 19, Zabbar 16, Mdina, Mellieha and Qormi 9, Sta. Venera 7 and Kirkop 5.
In Group A, Kalkara United defeated Ta’ Xbiex 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a brace by Joao Azambuja Studart Orban on the 49th and 60th.
Ghaxaq, on the other hand, defeated Xghajra Tornados 3-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to a brace by Rio Micallef – two penalties on the 12th and 16th and Neil Brownrigg on the 22nd.
Gharghur lead the way with 21 points, followed by Kalkara on 20, Attard on 19, Birzebbuga 16, Xghajra and Msida 12, Dingli 11, Ghaxaq 8, Siggiewi 7 and Ta’ Xbiex 6. Attard had nine points deducted.
