Birkirkara edge past Gzira to join Hamrun in third place

An early goal enabled Birkirkara to return to winning ways as they registered a narrow win over Gzira United at the National Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts the Stripes on level points with Hamrun Spartans in third place, just three points behind second-placed Floriana and five ahead of Sirens.

Gzira, on the other hand, continue to share the sixth place with Valletta on 21 points, just one ahead of Balzan and Gudja.

Luke Montebello scored the all-important goal after just ten minutes when he received a cross by Ryan Scicluna and beat goalkeeper Darijan Radelic Zarkov.
