Gudja make it three wins in a row

Gudja United registered a third successive win, defeating Valletta 3-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday. A win enables them to join Balzan in the eighth place on the 20-point mark, five clear of Mosta, eight ahead of Santa Lucia and ten ahead of Sliema.

Valletta, on the other hand, lie just one point ahead of Balzan and Gudja. They have now gone six matches without a win, collecting just three points in the process.

Gudja took the lead on the 6th minute thanks to Ahinga Bienvenu Selemani who advanced on the right and into the area, rounding two defenders before hitting home past Cini.

On the 22nd minute, Gudja doubled the score when Jean Borg and Tensior Gusman collided outside the area and Matias Muchardi entered the area and hit low past Cini.

Valletta reduced the gap on the 67th minute thanks to Ivan Curjuric who hit low past Glenn Zammit following an assist from the right.

However seven minutes later, the Citizens had Jean Borg sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

One minute in added time, Gudja sealed the issue with a third goal when off a cross from the right by Nika Dzalamidze, Ahinga Bienvenu Selemani slotted the ball past Cini from close range.
