Birkirkara registered a second successive win as they defeated Gudja United 1-0 at the National Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts the Stripes three points behind second-placed Floriana and three ahead of Hamrun Spartans.
Gudja, on the other hand, suffer a first defeat after claiming maximum points from their last three matches and therefore continue to share the eighth place with Balzan.
Diego Venancio scored the all-important goal on the 20th minute thanks to a great freekick which saw him hit the foot of the post before ending at the back of the net.
