Eight Premier League players suspended

Eight Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Paul Fenech (Balzan), Enrico Pepe (Birkirkara), Steve Pisani (Gzira), Joseph Zerafa (Hibs), Degran Jackson (Sirens), Gabriel Aquilina (Sliema), Ryan Camilleri and Eslit Sala (Valletta) are therefore ruled out of this weekend’s matches.

Valletta will be without Camilleri and Sala for the clash with Hibernians who will be lacking former Valletta defender Joseph Zerafa. Paul Fenech and Steve Pisani are ruled out of Balzan vs Gzira while Enrico Pepe and Degran Jackson will skip the clash between Birkirkara and Sirens. Gabriel Aquilina will miss the Santa Lucia match.

Hibernians team manager Jesmond Abela was suspended for two matches.

In the Challenge League, Kurt Borg (Lija), Juan Cruz Gill and Fredrick Tabone (Marsaxlokk), Steve Meilak (Naxxar), Wayne Borg (Rabat), Joseph Farrugia (Vittoriosa), Kayode Victor Olowoyo (Luqa), Camilo del Castillo Escobar (Qrendi), Leighton Grech and Owen Magro (Senglea) and Joseph Willy (Swieqi) were all banned for one match. Senglea official Christian Testa was also suspended for one match.

In the National Amateur League, Matthew Schembri (Ta Xbiex) was handed a three-match ban while Dejan Cassar and Domenico Marsala (Dingli), Daniel Claridge (Msida), Jacob Vincent Magri (Siggiewi), Dylan Attard (Kirkop), Jean Claude Galea (Marsaskala), Gianluca Vella (Mdina), Wayne Chetcuti (Mellieha) and Justin Zammit (Mtarfa) were all suspended for one match.

Birzebbuga official Ivan Abela Grech was banned for two matches while Dingli coach Vasileos Sarafis was suspended for one match.
