Izibet FA Trophy: Hibernians, Mosta and St. George’s through to Round of 16

Hibernians, Mosta and Challenge League side St. George’s were the first three teams to reach the Round of 16 of the Izibet FA Trophy as the Round of 32 kicked-off on Tuesday.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, Hibernians defeated Gozitan First Division leaders Nadur Youngsters 2-0.

Following a goalless first half, Dunstan Vella put the Paolites ahead on 53 minutes and Jake Grech doubled the score nine minutes from time.

In the next round, the Paolites will be facing of the game between Zejtun Corinthians and Xewkija Tigers.

At the Centenary Stadium, Mosta found no difficulty in beating Challenge League side Luqa St. Andrew’s 5-0.

Zachary Brincat handed Mosta a two-goal lead with goals on the 10th and the 15th. William Donkin added another seven minutes from the end of the first half, going on to score another two goals on the 61st and 73rd.

In the Round of 16, Mosta face the winner of the clash between Birkirkara and Fgura United.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, St. George’s came from behind to beat Melita 2-1 in a clash between two Challenge League sides.

Daniel Cutajar put the Saints ahead on the 3rd minute but Matheus Freitas Carvalho da Silva equalised five minutes from the end of the first half and eight minutes in the second half, Rafael Junior de Fex Marriaga notched the winner.

St. George’s take on Floriana or Ghajnsielem in the next round.
