BOV Challenge League: Zebbug move five points clear

Zebbug Rangers moved five points clear in Group B of the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Senglea Athletic 4-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

Matheus de Lucena Guariento put Senglea ahead on the 23rd but a Gaetano Gesualdi penalty restored equilibrium three minutes from the end of the first half. Five minutes in the second half, Stanimir Miloskovic made it 2-1 for Zebbug. Shalon Diacono increased the lead four minutes later and Miloskovic added another on the 64th.

Zebbug lead the way with 30 points followed by Tarxien on 25, Pieta on 24, Marsa 23, Qrendi 20, Fgura and Swieqi 19, St. Andrews 16, Senglea 12, Mgarr 10 and Luqa 7.

In Group A, Melita collected another three precious points as they beat Lija Athletic 2-1.

Matthew Debattista put the Amateurs ahead six minutes in the second half and six minutes later, Hiroya Konno doubled the score. Lydon Micallef pulled one back one minute from time.

Pembroke lead the way with 33 points, followed by Naxxar on 31, Melita and Zejtun 24, Marsaxlokk 22, Lija 21, San Gwann 17, Mqabba 16, Vittoriosa 13, Rabat 9 and St. George’s 4.
