Sirens maintain challenge for top-six spot as they hold Birkirkara in a draw

Sirens earned another precious point in the battle for a place in the top six as they held Birkirkara in a 1-1 draw at the National Stadium on Sunday.

Birkirkara, on the other hand, missed the chance to keep the pace with leaders Hibernians and second-placed Floriana as they now lie five points behind the Greens and four ahead of Gzira and Hamrun.

The Stripes took the lead on the 25th minute when off a cross by Leandro Aguirre from the left, Carlo Zammit Lonardelli failed to clear the ball into safety and Kilian Bevis hit low past goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

However on the 29th minute, Sirens levelled matters when Bogdan Gavrila served Francis William Avoce inside the area and the latter rounded Enrico Pepe before hitting low past Amara Sylla.
