Birkirkara FC are the first club to launch their own mobile app.

Apart from the latest news, results and fixtures, live squares and player profiles, the Birkirkara FC Official App, which is available on App Store and Google Play, will feature exclusive content.

Birkirkara FC President Michael Valenzia said that the mobile app has been for a long time in the making as part of the club’s plans to put it closer to supporters and thanked 157 Media, Brandon Bonett and Clayton Schembri for making this possible.

Valenzia said that when he was appointed as president, the club had two options – either go back to basics and give a new image to the club or continue working year by year. He said the club went for the first option as this was the right choice for the good of the club. He thanked the members of the committee for working hard to put the club back where it belongs.

Head of Social Media Clayton Schembri said the club gave importance to its social media platforms and has the Facebook page with the largest number of followers, over 27,000. He said that they felt the need to bring all the content provided on the club website, Facebook page, Instagram and Youtube together and this was made possible thanks to this app. Apart from this content, the mobile app also features virtual membership cards, wallpapers, fan chat, supporters choice man of the match, a merchandising shop and specific sections with highlights and videos. Schembri said that he believes that this app paves the way in social media for local clubs and was sure other clubs will do the same.

Head of Marketing & Events Franklin Cortis said that the mobile app has been in the club’s plans for quite some time but following the election of the new committee, this project has been given a further push. He added that apart from putting the club closer to its supporters, the app should also help the club generate more revenue.
