Hamrun Spartans share spoils with Sirens

The arrival of new coach Branko Nisevic failed to have an immediate effect on Hamrun Spartans as they extended their winless streak with a 1-1 draw with Sirens at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Hamrun have now gone six matches without a win and although they are still fourth, they lie just one point ahead of Gzira and Sirens and two ahead of Gudja with three matches to go for the end of the first phase and Gzira have a game in hand. For Sirens, this was the second successive 1-1 draw.

The Spartans took the lead three minutes from the end of the first half thanks to a powerful drive by Matteo Fedele which gave goalkeeper Jonathan Debono no chance.

However Sirens equalised on the 62nd minute when off a Bogdan Gavrila freekick, Henrique Marcelino Motta headed the ball home past Bonello.
