William Donkin hands Mosta precious points

Mosta bounced back from the defeat to Floriana as they defeated bottom-placed Sliema Wanderers 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

A win which enables them to leapfrog Balzan and puts them on level points with Valletta in the eighth place on 21 points. Balzan now lie third from bottom, one point behind Mosta who therefore register a third win in four matches.

The Wanderers, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table with 11 points. They had assistant coach Noel Turner leading the team following the sacking of Andrea Pisanu.

Mosta scored the all-important goal on 27 minutes when he received a cross from the right, rounded Kurt Shaw before beating goalkeeper David Cassar.

Three minutes in added time, Danny Holla was sent off for the Wanderers.
