Zejtun Corinthians moved to just three points behind second-placed Naxxar Lions in Group A of the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Vittoriosa Stars 4-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
Daniel Sowatey put Vittoriosa ahead on the 10th minute but Renan Sgaria Farias equalised on the 24th and three minutes later, Jurgen Farrugia handed Zejtun the lead. Goals by David Xuereb and Sgaria Farias on the 64th and 68th sealed the issue for Zejtun.
Pembroke lead the way with 35 points, followed by Naxxar on 34, Zejtun 31, Marsaxlokk 26, Melita 24, San Gwann 23, Lija 21, Mqabba 17, Rabat and Vittoriosa 13 and St. George’s 4.
In Group B, Fgura United also came from behind to beat Qrendi 2-1.
Andrew Agius put Qrendi ahead on the 2nd minute but Rafael Conrado Prudente equalised on the 13th and Dylan Caruana notched the winner eleven minutes in the second half.
Zebbug lead the way with 33 points followed by Pieta’ on 30, Marsa on 29, Tarxien 28, Fgura 25, Qrendi 20, St. Andrews and Swieqi 19, Senglea 12, Mgarr and Luqa 10.
