Marsaskala and Mtarfa registered wins in the battle for promotion in Group B of the BOV National Amateur League as they defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings and Mellieha respectively at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday.
Goals by Josuel Spiteri on the 36th and Dylan Zarb on the 48th handed Marsaskala a 2-0 win over Sta. Venera. On the other hand, a Jean Paul Formosa hat-trick, on the 35th, 66th and 85th, enabled Mtarfa to turn defeat into victory as they beat Mellieha 3-1 after Stefan Vasilevski had put the latter ahead on the 25th.
Zurrieq lead the way with 35 points, followed by Marsaskala on 32, Zabbar and Mtarfa 28, Mdina 18, Kirkop 11, Mellieha 10, Qormi 9, Sta. Venera 8.
