BOV Challenge League: Pieta’ hit six past Senglea to join Zebbug on top

Pieta’ Hotspurs defeated Senglea Athletic 6-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday to re-join Zebbug Rangers on top Group B of the BOV Challenge League.

Daniel Zerafa put the Hotspurs ahead on the 12th minute and Abdeen Temitope Abdul notched a hat-trick in twelve minutes with goals on the 26th, 32nd and 37th to hand them a comfortable lead. Yuto Morita scored twice in the second half on the 65th and 74th to extend the lead further. 

In another match, Marsa came from behind to beat Fgura United 2-1.


Rafael Conrado Prudente put Fgura ahead on the 56th but goals by Amadou Samb on the 81st and Luca Brincat five minutes later handed Marsa the three points.

Zebbug and Pieta’ lead the way with 36 points, followed by Tarxien on 34, Marsa 32, Fgura and St. Andrews 25, Qrendi and Swieqi 20, Senglea 12, Mgarr 11 and Luqa 10.

In Group A, a goal four minutes from time by Peter Paul Sammut handed Marsaxlokk a narrow win over Lija Athletic at the Centenary Stadium while at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, 

On the other hand, San Gwann came from behind to beat Rabat Ajax 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Melvin Akingboye put Rabat ahead on the 5th minute but Ayrton Azzopardi equalised twelve minutes in the second half and Emmanuel Mbong scored twice on the 72nd and 92nd to hand San Gwann the three points.

Pembroke lead the way with 41 points, followed by Zejtun and Naxxar on 34, Marsaxlokk 32, Melita 30, San Gwann 26, Lija 24, Mqabba 17, Rabat and Vittoriosa 13 and St. George’s 4.
