BOV National Amateur League: Birzebbuga, Kalkara and Msida secure play-off spots

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Kalkara United registered wins in Group A of the BOV National Amateur League to secure a spot in the play-offs. Msida St. Joseph are also sure of taking part in the play-offs although they are yet to play their final match on Sunday.

An own goal by Deemer Cutajar on the 75th handed Birzebbuga St. Peter’s a narrow win over Xghajra Tornados at the Luxol Stadium.

At the Sirens Stadium, Kalkara United defeated Gharghur 3-0. Kalkara scored twice within the first seven minutes thanks to Cedric Zahra on the 3rd and Michael Theuma four minutes later. Mohamed Ahmad Ayoub sealed the issue with a third goal on the 22nd

Attard lead the way with 38 points, followed by Gharghur on 31, Birzebbuga 30, Kalkara 28, Msida 25, Xghajra 24, Ghaxaq and Siggiewi 14, Ta’ Xbiex 13 and Dingli 12. 

In Group B, goals by Kenneth Aquilina on the 36th, Mark Anthony Borg on the 44th, Gianluca Zammit on the 76th and Terence Agius on the 92nd handed Zabbar St. Patrick a 4-0 win over Mellieha at the Sirens Stadium.

On the other hand, at the Luxol Stadium, Qormi and Sta. Venera Lightnings shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Zurrieq lead the way with 39 points, followed by Marsaskala and Zabbar on 35, Mtarfa 31, Mdina 18, Mellieha 13, Kirkop 11, Qormi 10 and Sta. Venera 9.
