Zabbar St. Patrick and Mtarfa made it to the third round of the BOV National Amateur League Promotion Play-Offs after defeating Kalkara United and Birzebbuga St. Peter’s respectively at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday.
In the first match, Zabbar Zabbar went two goals ahead courtesy of David Oliveira Souza on the 15th and Isaac Abela on the 61st. Mohamed Ahmad Ayoub pulled one back for Kalkara on the 65th but Gianluca Zammit sealed the issue with a goal three minutes in added time.
On the other hand, Mtarfa came from behind to beat Birzebbuga. Following a goalless first half, Aaron Agius put the Saints ahead four minutes in the second half but Dylan Mifsud equalised on the 66th and Alejandro Brincat scored twice on the 67th and 75th to put Mtarfa in the next stage.
On Wednesday at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 20:15, Zabbar and Mtarfa cross swords in Round 3 of the Play-Offs with the winner taking on Gharghur in the final on Saturday 16 at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 17:15.
