Hibernians, Floriana share spoils in top-of-the-table clash

Hibernians maintained a two-point lead over Floriana after the top of the table clash from the BOV Premier League Top Six ended in a goalless draw.

With three matches to go, the Paolites lead the way with 48 points, two ahead of Floriana with Birkirkara lying in third place on 39 and Hamrun fourth on 38.

During the first half, both sides had their fair share of scoring opportunities but during the second half, the two goalkeepers were hardly tested.

The best scoring opportunity occurred on the 26th when Jurgen Degabriele took advantage of a short clearance by Kitanov, who tried to anticipate Da Costa, and rounded Oualid El Hasni but his goal-bound effort was deflected into a corner by Callegari.

Brandon Paiber had a freekick blocked by Kone on 29 minutes and on the half-hour, a curved shot by Hugo Filipe da Costa Oliveira ended just wide.

A freekick by Paiber on the 58th was blocked by a defender and his attempt off the rebound was neutralised by Kone.

Four minutes in added time, Rumyan Hovsepyan had a long-distance effort which scrapped pas the post.
