BOV Challenge League: Pieta’ Hotspurs promoted

Pieta’ Hotspurs were promoted to the BOV Premier League thanks to a 3-1 win over Swieqi United in a match from Group B of the BOV Challenge League at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

A Daniel Zerafa penalty put the Hotspurs ahead on the 36th and Abdeen Temitope Abdul doubled the score two minutes from the end of the first half. Johan Alberto Castano converted a penalty to reduce the gap on the 65th. Paul Lapira sealed the issue for the Hotspurs with a goal four minutes in added time.

At the Centenary Stadium, Tarxien Rainbows defeated Fgura United 3-1.

Wellington de Oliveira scored twice on the 6th and 10th and Saturday Nanapere made it 3-0 on the 14th. Fgura pulled one back through Jeremy Camilleri eight minutes from the end of the first half.

Zebbug ended their commitments on 45 points, followed by Pieta’ on 40, Tarxien 38, Marsa 33, Fgura 31 St. Andrews 28, Qrendi and Swieqi 24, Senglea 15, Mgarr 14 and Luqa 10. Senglea Athletic, Mgarr United and Luqa St. Andrew’s were relegated to the National Amateur League.
