Hamrun join Birkirkara in third place

Hamrun Spartans joined Birkirkara in third place as an own goal paved the way for a 2-0 win over Gzira United in a match from the BOV Premier League Top Six final round at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans join Birkirkara on 41 points, six behind Floriana and four ahead of the Maroons who now risk missing out on European football this summer.

Hamrun took the lead on the 6th minute when goalkeeper Darijan Zarkov saved partially a cross from the left and Marko Cosic hit the ball into his own net for an own goal.

Seven minutes in the second half, the Spartans doubled the score when off a cross from the right, Ailton Jorge dos Santos Soares slammed the ball home in style past the Gzira goalkeeper.
