Second-half goals put Hibernians four points clear

Hibernians moved four points clear on top the BOV Premier League table as they defeated Gudja United 2-0 in a match from the BOV Premier League Top Six final round at the National Stadium on Sunday.

With two games to go, Hibs lead the way with 51 points, followed by Floriana on 47. In their final two matches, the Paolites face Birkirkara and Gzira United while the Greens will be meeting Hamrun Spartans and Gudja United.

During the first half, Hibs created the better chances, being unlucky not to take the lead with a Gabi Izquier freekick which hit the crossbar.

Hibs managed to break the deadlock on the hour when off a cross from the right, Ferdinando Apap headed the ball home.

Dunstan Vella was unlucky to hit the upright for the Paolites but five minutes from time, he was not to be denied as Vella exchanged the ball with Grech on the right before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Glenn Zammit.
