Sirens leapfrog Mosta as they defeat them 3-2

Sirens moved top in the BOV Premier League Play-Out final round as they defeated Mosta by the odd goal in five at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Thursday.

The St. Paul’s Bay side took the lead on the 13th minute when Renato Neto served Marios Lomis inside the area and the latter hit low past goalkeeper Dylan Ciappara.

Mosta equalised on the 29th minute when Christ Evo Ememe latched on a long-distance cross from the left and served Zachary Brincat who hit home from close range.

Sirens regained the lead four minutes from the end of the first half thanks to Marios Lomis who headed the ball home following a cross from the right.

Mosta levelled matters on the 90th when William Donkin took advantage of a short clearance by a defender following a cross from the left.

However two minutes in added time, Sirens made it 3-2 when in a swift counter-attack, Alfred Effiong served substitute Carlos Flores who rounded the goalkeeper before placing the ball at the back of the net.

Both sides ended in ten men as Carlos Riascos Castillo and Clayton Failla were finally sent off.
