Floriana FC announced that midfielder Matías Nicolas García has formally received his Maltese passport through the citizenship-by-merit programme.
Garcia was included in the provisional squad for the friendly match against Venezuela and the UEFA Nations League matches against San Marino and Estonia. Therefore the Argentinian-born midfielder could make his debut on Wednesday in the game against Venezuela.
In a statement, the club said “It is truly an honour to have such an exemplary and dedicated professional player eligible to represent not only our club, but now also our country.”
