BOV Challenge League 2022/23 fixtures released

The fixtures for match days 1 to 11 of the BOV Challenge League 2022/23 were released on Monday by the Malta Football Association.

The BOV Challenge League 2022/23 will be played over two phases as eighteen teams are taking part this season. The eighteen teams will be playing on a one round league basis in the first phase. In the second phase, the top six teams will be playing on two rounds while the other twelve will be playing on one round. 

At the end of the second phase,

(a) the clubs placed first and second in the Top Six shall be promoted to the Premier League with the team placing first being declared the Champion of the Challenge League;
(b) the club placed third in the Top Six shall participate in the Premier League Play-Out;
(c) the bottom six teams in the Bottom Twelve shall be relegated to the National Amateur League.

The league will kick-off on Friday 26 August with the match Lija Athletic vs Tarxien Rainbows at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Four matches will be played on Saturday 27 – Mqabba vs Fgura United and Naxxar Lions vs Sliema Wanderers at the Centenary Stadium and Marsa vs Vittoriosa Stars and Melita vs Marsaskala at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

On Sunday 28, San Gwann take on Mtarfa and Zejtun Corinthians face Attard at the Centenary Stadium while at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Swieqi United face Zurrieq and Qrendi take on St. Andrews.

After match-day 4 (Sep 9-11), there will be an international break and the league will resume on October 1 with match-day 5. After match-day 11 (Nov 11-13), there will be another international break.

Although the fixtures for match-days 12 to 17 have not been released yet, the dates are as follows: MD12 Dec 2-4, MD13 Dec 9-11, MD14 Dec 13-15, MD15 Dec 16-18, MD16 Dec 20-22 and MD17 Jan 6-8.
