Nisevic confident Hamrun could achieve positive result against Partizan

Following a 4-1 defeat in the first leg, Hamrun Spartans will be all out to get a positive result as they host FK Partizan in the second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round at the National Stadium on Thursday, kick-off at 20:00.

Losing with such a score means that the Spartans need to win by three goals in order to force extra-time.

In Belgrade, Hamrun had a good start but conceded three goals in eighteen minutes for Partizan to take a comfortable lead. After having a goal disallowed before the end of the first half, the Spartans hit back with a goal early in the second half but Partizan scored another to retain a comfortable lead ahead of the second leg.

Speaking on Wednesday, coach Branko Nisevic said that the result of the first leg did not reflect what happened on the pitch, adding that Hamrun believe that if they repeat the same performance, the result should be definitely on their side this time around.

When asked whether he would be making adjustments to their tactical approach, Nisevic said that Hamrun have their style of play … pressing high and advancing whilst keeping possession but a small adjustment would be done for this clash.

The Hamrun coach hailed the supporters for their backing, mentioning once again the second leg against Alashkert where they were their “extra gear and we all thank them from the bottom of our heart for being there every step of the way.” Nisevic insisted the team was looking forward to give supporters something more to remember this year.

Also present for the press conference were assistant coach Stefano De Angelis, match analyst Dominic Mahoney, goalkeepers coach Ruben Debono and physical trainer Emerico Pellegrini.

For this game, the Spartans could not count on Steve Borg as he serves a one-match ban.

The winner will enter the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League, the draws for which will be held on Friday.
