National Amateur League: Zabbar hit four past Pembroke

Zabbar St. Patrick opened their National Amateur League Group A commitments with a most comfortable 4-0 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Sirens Stadium in one of four matches in programme on Saturday.

David Oliveira Souza put the Saints ahead on the 12th minute and doubled the score eight minutes in the second half. Francesco Gusman extended the lead on the 78th and four minutes later, Nestor Luis Silva made it 4-0.

A goal by Timothy Thomas on the 34th minute handed Senglea Athletic a narrow win over Mgarr United at the Luxol Stadium in a clash between two teams who were relegated from the Challenge League.

Kalkara United scored twice in the second half to beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Andrea Hammett opened the score on the 51st and Jean Paul Formosa added another on the 75th.

At the Sirens Stadium, Xghajra Tornados defeated Mellieha 2-0 courtesy of an Aidan Agius Gilford penalty on the 25th and a goal by Andre Mallia on the 68th.
