Birkirkara are the only team with maximum points after three matches as they defeated Floriana 1-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Floriana, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat after the setback in the draw with Sirens last week.
The Stripes had one change from the team which defeated Zebbug last week as Neil Micallef was preferred to Paul Mbong while Floriana coach Gianluca Atzori named Carlo Zammit Lonardelli, Eden Hershkovich and Andrei Ciolacu in the starting line-up, replacing Ulises Arias, Kemar Reid and Mattia Veselji.
The Stripes scored the all-important goal on the 76th minute when off a cross by Paul Mbong from the left, the ball reached Kevin Tulimieri whose fine effort beat goalkeeper Georgi Kitanov.
Nine minutes from time, a Paul Mbong effort hit the woodwork.
