National Amateur League: Third win for Rabat Ajax

Rabat Ajax maintained their perfect record in Group B of the National Amateur League as they defeated Siggiewi 3-0 at the Luxol Stadium in one of the four matches in programme on Saturday.

Matthew Farrugia put Rabat ahead on the 17th and Kane Micallef doubled the score six minutes later. Nobukatsu Tsuchiya converted a penalty on the 33rd to make it 3-0.

Ghaxaq kept the pace with the leaders thanks to a narrow win over Gharghur at the Sirens Stadium. Josef Dalli scored the all-important goal eleven minutes in the second half.

Mdina Knights and Dingli Swallows both earned their first point as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Luxol Stadium. Cachel Vella put Dingli ahead on the 47th but Nicholas Zahra equalised eleven minutes from time.

Rabat lead the way with 9 points, followed by Ghaxaq on 7, St. George’s and Msida 5, Luqa and Siggiewi 4, Gharghur 2, Dingli, Kirkop and Mdina 1.

Meanwhile in a match from Group A, Mgarr United scored deep into stoppage time to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with Xghajra Tornados at the Sirens Stadium. An own goal on the 61st minute put Xghajra ahead but Jurgen Grech levelled matters six minutes in added time.
