BOV Challenge League: Sliema move five points clear

Sliema Wanderers moved five points clear in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated San Gwann 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Matheus de Lucena Guariento put San Gwann ahead on the 18th minute but a brace by Jean Carlos Cloth Goncalves on the 21st and 28th and Henrique Freire Bernardo Murilo two minutes in added time before the end of the first half enabled them to turn the score in their favour.

Melita moved second thanks to a 4-0 win over Vittoriosa Stars at the Centenary Stadium. Hiroya Konne scored on the 20th, 30th and 34th with Matthew Debattista adding another on the 48th.

Zurrieq came from behind to beat Fgura United 4-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Samuel Buhagiar handed Fgura the lead on the half hour but just before half-time, Ivan Bojovic levelled matters and goals by Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio on the 51st and 92nd and Igor Misan on the 70th handed Zurrieq the three points.

Mtarfa defeated Tarxien Rainbows 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe put Mtarfa ahead on the 5th and although Matthew Spiteri equalised on the 18th, Dylan Douglas Camilleri notched the winner two minutes from time.

Attard claimed the three points in a 3-1 win over Swieqi United at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Jose Cleangelo put Attard ahead on the 17th and Camilo del Castillo Escobar doubled the score five minutes in the second half. Johan Alberto Castano pulled one back on the 84th but Kebba Kebell Suso made it 3-1 four minutes from time.

Sliema lead the way with 18 points, followed by Melita and Naxxar on 13, Zejtun 12, Fgura 11, Lija, Zurrieq, Mtarfa and Swieqi 8, Marsa, Vittoriosa and San Gwann 7, Attard 6, Tarxien and St. Andrews 5, Mqabba 3, Qrendi 1 and Marsaskala 0.
