Third defeat for women’s Under-19 side in League A mini-tournament

Malta lost 5-0 to hosts Portugal in the final match from Group A7 of the UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship at the Estadio Municipal Sergio Conceicao in Coimbra on Tuesday.

Ines Simas converted a penalty on the 23rd and Maria Ferreira doubled the score five minutes from the end of the first half. Beatriz Nogueira made it 3-0 on the 45th. Late in the game, Maria Ferreira scored twice on the 83rd and 88th to extend the lead further.

Norway won the tournament with seven points, followed by Portugal on 6, Belgium 4 and Malta 0. Malta will therefore making a return to League B for Round 2 of the 2022/23 campaign.
