Floriana test for Gzira United

Gzira United will be hoping to move into joint-second place with Birkirkara as they take on Floriana in one of the four BOV Premier League matches in programme on Sunday. Hibernians face Santa Lucia, Balzan take on Sirens while Zebbug Rangers cross swords with Pieta’ Hotspurs in the other three matches.

In the first match at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 15:00, Zebbug and Pieta’ will be all out to claim the three points in a clash between two of the three teams promoted from the BOV Challenge League last season.

The Rangers claimed three points in a win over Santa Lucia – their only points so far – but are coming from back-to-back defeats to Marsaxlokk (0-3) and Hibernians (0-1). Pieta’, on the other hand, lie at the bottom of the table without any points after losing the six matches played so far but played a good game in their 2-3 defeat to Balzan last week.

At the National Stadium, kick-off at 15:00, Gzira United take on Floriana.

Six points separate the two teams with the Maroons sharing third place with Gudja and Floriana eighth on eight points. After a rather slow start with two draws from the first three matches, the Maroons claimed maximum points from the last three games, defeating Hibernians, Pieta’ and Sirens. Floriana, on the other hand, are eager for points after collecting just one point from the last two matches following a 0-2 defeat to Hamrun and a 1-1 draw with Mosta.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 17:15, Hibernians host Santa Lucia.

The Paolites are currently seventh on 10 points. They won three out of the last four matches, defeating Mosta 5-0, Balzan 2-0 and Zebbug 1-0. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, earned their first point last week as they held Marsaxlokk in a 2-2 draw.

At the National Stadium, kick-off at 17:15, Balzan and Sirens seek precious points for different reasons.

Lying in fifth place on 12 points, Balzan could move third or fourth in case of a win. Sirens, on the other hand, are still chasing their first win as they lie joint-third from bottom on three points. They lost two out of the last three matches, earning a point in a draw with Mosta. Balzan, on the other hand, returned to winning ways thanks to a narrow win over Pieta’
