National Amateur League: Rabat regain top spot in Group B

Rabat Ajax regained the top spot in Group B of the National Amateur League after defeating Msida St. Joseph 1-0 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.

Immy Micallef converted a penalty on the 66th to hand Rabat the three points.

St. George’s moved second thanks to a 4-0 win over Mdina Knights at the Sirens Stadium. Rudy Cassar put the Cospicua side ahead on the 9th minute and seven minutes later, Aaron Agius doubled the score. Alexander Cauchi made it 3-0 on the 26th and just before the end of the first half, Morientes Muscat scored a fourth goal.

Gharghur joined Msida in third place thanks to a 3-0 win over Dingli Swallows at the Luxol Stadium courtesy of Nicholas Formosa on the 27th and an Erik Pietribiasi double on the 53rd and 84th.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Luqa St. Andrew’s defeated Siggiewi 2-1. Fabien Lufi scored twice on the 12th and 26th with Ronaldo Begambre reducing the gap on the 58th.

Rabat lead the way with 13 points, followed by St. George’s on 12, Gharghur and Msida 11, Luqa 8, Ghaxaq and Siggiewi 7, Kirkop 5, Dingli and Mdina 4.
