Gzira United returned to winning ways as they defeated Mosta 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
An early goal paved the way for the Maroons with the Blues finding it difficult to react before the latter eventually conceded a second goal.
Gzira move four points behind leaders Hamrun Spartans who, however, have a game in hand.
The Maroons took the lead on the 5th minute when goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan saved partially a freekick by Gabriel Bohrer Mentz and Maxuell Maia placed the ball at the back of the net off the rebound.
Five minutes in the second half, Nikolai Muscat almost made it 2-0 but his fine effort hit the upright.
Gzira doubled the score on the 74th when Jefferson de Assis received an assist by Toni Kolega from the left and after beating the challenge of a defender, he hit hard past the Mosta goalkeeper.
