Izibet FA Trophy: Zabbar stun St. Andrews to book place in Round of 32

Izibet National Amateur League side Zabbar St. Patrick stunned BOV Challenge League side St. Andrews defeating them 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday in a match from the Preliminary Round of the Izibet FA Trophy to book a place in the Round of 32.

David Oliveira Souza put Zabbar ahead on the 19th and Nick Borg doubled the 26th. Oliveira Souza added another six minutes later with Kenneth Aquilina scoring Zabbar’s fourth on the 69th.

Attard qualified for the next round thanks to a 3-2 win over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s at the Sirens Stadium. Glending Farrugia put Attard ahead on the 20th but Ousman Touray equalised a minute later. Lydon Cuschieri converted a penalty four minutes in the second half, adding another four minutes later to hand Attard a comfortable lead with Yessous Camilleri reducing the gap three minutes from time.

Naxxar Lions registered a most comfortable 5-1 win over Oratory Youths. Neil Pace Cocks opened the score on the 17th and Robinson Blandon Rendon scored twice on the 30th to double the scoring. Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa pulled one back for Oratory Youths ten minutes in the second half but Rendon made it 3-1 on the 72nd. Ten minutes later, an own goal extended the lead for the Lions with Sven Fabri scoring Naxxar’s fifth three minutes from time.

Tarxien Rainbows had to struggle much more than expected to defeat Kalkara United 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium thanks to two goals in extra-time. Following a goalless ninety minutes, the game went into extra-time and one minute in the second half of extra-time, Thiago Nonato Peixoto broke the deadlock with Emmanuel Mbong adding another six minutes later.
