Izibet Amateur League: Msida move three points clear

Msida St. Joseph moved three points clear on top of Group B of the Izibet Amateur League as they defeated Siggiewi 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday. 

Kevin Sammut put Msida ahead on the 14th minute and Jamie Camilleri doubled the score eight minutes from time.

Rabat Ajax joined Gharghur in second place following a goalless draw with Luqa St. Andrew’s at the Sirens Stadium.

Kirkop United registered a fourth successive win, defeating Dingli Swallows 3-0 thanks to goals by Lincoln Micallef on the 11th, Isaac Abela on the 67th and Benjamin Battistino on the 86th.

Meanwhile Ghaxaq returned to winning ways as they came from behind to beat Mdina Knights 3-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Karlo Ghigo put Mdina ahead on the 24th but goals by Josef Dalli on the 31st and Dusan Petrovic on the 39th turned the score in their favour with Neil Said adding another two minutes from time.

Msida lead the way with 20 points, followed by Gharghur and Rabat on 17, St. George’s 16, Luqa 15, Kirkop 14, Ghaxaq 10, Siggiewi 8, Dingli and Mdina 4.
