Narrow win puts Hibernians in second place

A goal towards the end of the first half handed Hibernians a narrow win over Sirens at the National Stadium on Saturday.

This second successive win, not only extended Andrea Pisanu’s side’s positive run to eight matches but also put them in second place, two points ahead of Gzira United and four behind leaders Hamrun Spartans, who, however, have a game in hand.

Sirens, on the other hand, remain fourth from bottom on 12 points.

The first half seemed heading towards a goalless draw but one minute in added time, Ali Diakite managed to beat Sirens custodian Matthew Grech with a powerful drive from outside the area which gave him no chance.
