Izibet Amateur League: Mgarr join Senglea in second place

Mgarr United came from behind to beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-1 in a match from Group A of the Izibet Amateur League at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday. A win which enabled them to join Senglea in second place.

Keith Muscat put the Saints ahead on the 18th minute but Jurgen Grech equalised on the 27th and Christian Saint Ebisindor notched the winner seven minutes in the second half.

Goals by Fabrizio Zammit on the 8th and Jean Paul Formosa twelve minutes in the second half handed Kalkara United a 2-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex at the Sirens Stadium.

A brace by Aidan Agius Gilford on the 44th and 51st gave Xghajra Tornados the three points as they defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Kyle Schembri scored the only goal for the Lightnings on the 78th.

Meanwhile a goal by Malcolm Vella Vidal on the half hour handed Mellieha a narrow win over Pembroke Athleta at the Luxol Stadium.

Zabbar lead the way with 24 points, followed by Mgarr and Senglea on 22, Kalkara 17, Birzebbuga 13, Qormi 12, Xghajra 11, Sta. Venera 10, Mellieha and Pembroke 6 and Ta’ Xbiex 0.
