Fifth-placed Mosta moved three points clear of Gudja United as they defeated Santa Lucia 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
This was the third successive win for Mosta and the fifth win in seven matches. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, suffered a fourth successive defeat.
The Blues took the lead on the 25th minute when off a cross from the left by Duane Bonnici, Christ Ememe slotted the ball past goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona.
Mosta doubled the score on the 74th when off a Clayton Failla corner from the left, Tyrone Farrugia addressed the ball in the direction of Jacob Akrong who headed the ball home from close range.
One minute from time, Santa Lucia pulled one back courtesy of a Francisco Eliomar Rodrigues header off a cross by Jan Tanti from the right.
