Gudja United beat Mosta to join them in fifth place

Gudja United defeated ten-man Mosta 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium to join them in fifth place on 23 points, just two behind fourth-placed Birkirkara.

Gudja, therefore, registered a second win in three matches while Mosta suffer a first defeat after three wins in their previous three matches.

Andrea Agostinelli’s side managed to take the lead just past the half-hour thanks to Ayrton Azzopardi, served by Nicolas Navarrete, who rounded a defender before hitting home past goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan.

Christ Ememe was unlucky to hit the woodwork for Mosta but two minutes in added time, they had Tyrone Farrugia sent off.

The first half was not over yet as they managed to equalise courtesy of a Clayton Failla powerful drive.

However, three minutes in the second half, Gudja regained the lead thanks to a low effort by Nicolas Navarrete which beat Akpan.
