Valletta hit four past Hibernians

Valletta left it for the second half to score four goals and beat Hibernians 4-0 at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The Paolites, therefore, failed to keep the pace with leaders Hamrun Spartans and now lie in third place behind the Spartans and one-point behind second-placed Gzira United. Valletta, on the other hand, are now eighth on 21 points, just one behind rivals Florana and two behind fifth-placed Mosta and Gudja United.

Following a goalless first half, the Citizens took the lead four minutes in the second half, courtesy of Flavio Cheveresan who received a perfect pass by Shaun Dimech on the right and rounded the goalkeeper before hitting home.

Andrea Zammit doubled the score on the 61st when he received an assist from by Brandon Paiber and with a diagonal shot from the right beat Haber.

Eight minutes from time, Ulrich N’Nomo Ngong intercepted a cross from the right by Ali Diakite and concluded a good run on the left flank with a low shot which ended in the bottom right corner.

Two minutes in added time, Brandon Paiber sent Kilian Bevis through on the right and the French forward rounded the goalkeeper, placing the ball inside the empty net.
