Naxxar Lions registered a most comfortable 6-0 win over Vittoriosa Stars at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in one of three matches from the BOV Challenge League on Tuesday. A win which puts them on level points with Sliema Wanderers, who however have a game in hand.

Neil Pace Cocks handed Naxxar the lead on the 13th, Ayrton Senna Azzopardi doubled the score on the 28th and Robinson Blandon Rendon made it 3-0 just before half-time. In the second half, Pace Cocks scored again on the 59th and two minutes later, Erikys Ferreira extended the lead. Jurgen Suda scored a sixth goal on the 68th.

Swieqi United came back from two goals down to hold Lija Athletic in a 2-2 draw at the Centenary Stadium to stay a point ahead of their opponents. Camilo Andres Diaz Arias put Lija ahead on the 7th minute and three minutes in the second half, Russell Fenech doubled the score. Sammy Elfarsi reduced the gap on the hour and seven minutes later, Johan Alberto Castano equalised for Swieqi.

In another match, Melita defeated Zurrieq 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium in a clash between two teams challenging for a place in the promotion pool. Julian Galea gave Melita an early lead on the 5th with Mattia Comes scoring twice in the second half on the 46th and 82nd to seal the issue for the Amateurs.

Sliema and Naxxar lead the way with 41 points, followed by Zejtun on 33, Tarxien 28, Zurrieq 26, Melita 25, Fgura and St. Andrews 22, Swieqi 21, Lija and Marsa 20, Attard 17, San Gwann 15, Marsaskala and Mqabba 14, Qrendi and Vittoriosa 10 and Mtarfa 8.
