Man Utd prove too strong for Birkirkara girls

Manchester United defeated Birkirkara 10-0 in a high-profile women’s friendly match at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

As expected, Marc Skinner’s side featuring several international players like Mary Earps and Alessia Russo, together with captain Katie Zelem who won the EURO with England this summer, Spain internationals Lucia Garcia and Ona Battle, and Canada’ player’s Adriana Leon proved too strong, scoring six during the first half, adding another four during the second half.

Man Utd took the lead after just eight minutes through Norwegian midfielder Vilde Boe Risa and on the 17th minute, England international Alessia Russo doubled the score. Russo increased the lead a minute later and Vilde Boe Risa made it 4-0 on the 27th. Spain’s Lucia Garcia scored a fifth goal on the 28th and Grace Clinton scored the sixth on the 34th.

Substitute Jade Moore extended the lead on the 70th and ten minutes from time, Nikita Parris scored the eighth goal. Two minutes later, Martha Thomas increased the lead with Jade Moore adding another on the 90th minute.
