Comfortable win for Birkirkara over Zebbug

Birkirkara scored four in the first half as they went on to register a most comfortable 5-0 win over Zebbug Rangers at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

The Stripes therefore returned to winning ways and now lie in third place just one point behind Gzira and one ahead of Hibernians but the Paolites have a game in hand.

Birkirkara took the lead on the 17th minute when Enzo Daniel Cabrera beat goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi on the run and his cross from the right was met by Alex da Paixao Alves who placed the ball at the back of the net.

Enzo Daniel Cabrera made it 2-0 five minutes later when he converted a penalty after Gaetano Gesualdi brought him down inside the area.

Three minutes later, Cabrera scored Birkirkara’s third with a shot from the edge of the area when served by Paul Mbong.

On the 29th minute, Cain Attard, served by Simon Zibo, concluded a great move by rounding a number of players before beating Azzopardi with an angled shot.

Paul Mbong made it 5-0 on the 66th with a fine shot following a cross by Alex da Paixao from the right, deflected by Leandro Almeida.
